Reports
from Lagos, Nigeria (Vanguard, Thursday 17 December 2015, 1149GMT), state that
Nnamdi Kanu, the Biafran freedom broadcaster who has been illegally detained by
the Nigeria regime since 17 October 2015, has been freed unconditionally by
Ademola Adeniyi, a judge at the Abuja high court. Adeniyi’s ruling couldn’t be
more succinct: “there [is] no basis for the applicant [Nnamdi Kanu] to remain in custody
since there is currently no charge pending against him”.
