83rd birthday of Flora Nwapa

(Born 13 January 1931, Ugwuta, Igboland)

  1. Flora Nwapa published EFURU in 1966. Chinua Achebe published THINGS FALL APART in 1958. Clearly, both of these contemporaries and peers set down foundations for African literature and writing.

    This year 2014 celebrates Achebe and some of Achebe's novels and writing, let 2016 focus on Nwapa and her Efuru's continuity of Igboness, Igbo women in Nigeria, Africana, panAfricana, Black womanness, and Feminism.

    The point is to take note and plan ahead for local, national and international events at various localities by interested parties, research centers, academic institution and governments.
